2012 Gold Sovereign Information
The 2012 Gold Sovereign features an all-new design to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. For 2012 only, the reverse of the gold sovereign features an updated image of the traditional George and Dragon scene by British Sculptor Paul Day.
The 2012 Gold Sovereign specification remains consistent with traditional British Gold Sovereigns. Minted by the Royal Mint, each coin measures 22.05 mm diameter and weighs 7.988 grams with 22 carat gold purity.
Gold sovereigns are both VAT and Capital Gains Tax free in UK due to their status as legal tender. Your 2012 Gold Sovereign investment will incur no tax when you come to sell.
